Who we are

Try Again! (listed in the app stores as “Try Again! Random Fun Games”) is made by Parallax Interactive, LLC (“PrllxLabs”, “we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal data described here.

  • Address: 12100 Wilshire Blvd Ste 800 PMB 17071305, Los Angeles, CA 90025-7140, United States
  • Privacy questions: help@prllxlabs.com

This policy covers the Try Again! app for iPhone and Android, and this website.

What we collect and why

Your account

The first time you open the game, it creates a guest account for you, so you can play straight away without signing up. To do this, it uses:

  • an identifier of your device: the identifier for vendor (identifierForVendor) on iOS, or the Android ID on Android;
  • an internal player ID that we create for you. It appears as “Player ID” at the bottom of the Settings screen;
  • a session token that keeps your device signed in to our servers.

Why: to give you an account, save your game and recognise your device when you come back.

Signing in with Apple or Google (optional)

You can link your account to Apple or Google to keep your progress in sync across devices and get it back on a new phone.

  • Sign in with Apple: an identifier that Apple creates for your account in our game and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address. Apple lets you hide your real email, in which case we receive a private relay address from Apple instead.
  • Sign in with Google: your name, email address and Google account ID.

Why: to link your progress to that account and restore it when you sign in on another device. We don't post anything to your Apple or Google account, and we don't see your password.

Your public profile

You choose a username (up to 18 characters) and an avatar. They are shown to other players on the leaderboards, together with a country flag. The flag comes from the region setting of your device, not from GPS or any other location data.

Please don't use your real name or any personal information in your username.

Game progress

We store your progress on our servers: your level, coins, lives (hearts), stars, boosters, streaks, trophies, and the state of your animal collection and sanctuary.

Why: so you don't lose your game and can continue on another device.

Gameplay analytics

While you play, the game records what happens in it and sends it to our servers in small batches:

  • when you start and finish a level, the result, how long it took, how many moves you made and the hints you used;
  • your taps and swipes on the game board, including their position on the screen;
  • the screens you open and the buttons you use;
  • your device model, operating system and app version.

These events are linked to your player ID, not to your name or email.

Why: to balance levels (for example, to spot a level that is far too hard), to find and fix problems, and to improve the game.

We may also send these events to Google Analytics 4, which processes them on our behalf. Only pseudonymous identifiers are sent to Google Analytics, never your name or email.

Choosing your next levels

Our servers choose your upcoming levels based on your play statistics, such as which levels you finish and how long they take, so the game stays fun and the difficulty suits you. We use an AI service from OpenAI to help with this.

OpenAI only receives pseudonymous gameplay statistics: never your name, email address or device identifiers. Under OpenAI's API terms, data sent through its API is not used to train OpenAI's models.

This only decides which levels you get next. It has no legal effect on you and doesn't affect you in any similarly significant way.

Server logs

When the app talks to our servers, they record technical information such as your IP address, the time and the request made.

Why: to keep the service secure and running, investigate errors and prevent abuse and fraud.

This website

Our hosting provider processes your IP address to deliver the pages to you.

Google Analytics, only if you accept: the first time you visit, a banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics. Until you press Accept, nothing from Google loads. If you accept, Google Analytics counts visits and the pages you view, with your device, browser, language and approximate location (which Google derives from your IP address without storing it), and sets two cookies on this site, _ga and _ga_*, which expire after 6 months. Google signals and ad personalisation are off, and the data is not linked to your account in the game. Your answer is kept only in your browser (its local storage), not in a cookie and not sent to us. You can change it at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; if you reject after accepting, the cookies are deleted.

Why: to know how many people visit the site and which pages they read.

What we don't collect

  • No payment information: the game has no in-app purchases at this time.
  • No chat or private messages: the game has none.
  • No precise location.
  • No access to your contacts, photos, camera or microphone.

Advertising

The game only shows a video ad when you choose to watch one: to get an extra heart, skip a level, double a reward or re-roll. Ads are provided by Google AdMob.

When an ad is requested or shown, Google may collect:

  • your device's advertising identifier: on iOS, the IDFA, only if you allow the app to track you when iOS asks (App Tracking Transparency); on Android, the Android advertising ID;
  • your IP address;
  • information about your device and how you interact with the ads.

Google uses this to deliver ads, measure them and prevent fraud, and, only if you agree where consent is required, to show you personalised ads. If you don't agree, you can still watch videos for rewards; the ads just won't be personalised. Google acts as an independent controller for some of this processing. To learn more, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Your ad choices

  • Consent message: in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and wherever the law requires it, the game shows Google's consent message before personalised ads are used. You can change your choice at any time in the game's Settings → Privacy choices.
  • iPhone and iPad: you can allow or stop tracking in the iOS Settings app, under Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's Google settings (usually Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads).

Under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, we rely on:

Extra information for some regions

California and other US states

In the last 12 months we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (player ID, device identifier, IP address, and name and email if you sign in), internet or other electronic network activity (gameplay analytics and ad interactions), and inferences used to choose your next levels. We collect them from you, your device and, if you sign in, Apple or Google, for the purposes described in this policy, and we disclose them to the service providers listed above.

We don't sell personal information for money. However, when personalised ads are allowed, Google's use of your advertising identifier and ad interactions may count as “selling” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under some state laws. To opt out, turn off personalised ads in Settings → Privacy choices where it is offered, and limit ad tracking in your device settings (on iOS, don't allow tracking; on Android, delete your advertising ID). We don't knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. We don't use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you a right to limit it.

Depending on your state, you have the right to know and access your data, correct it, delete it, and opt out of its sale or sharing and of targeted advertising. Contact us at help@prllxlabs.com; an authorised agent can also do it for you. We will verify your request and won't treat you differently for using your rights.

Canada (including Québec)

You can ask to access or correct your data and withdraw your consent, subject to legal limits. The person in charge of the protection of personal information can be reached at help@prllxlabs.com. Your data is stored and processed outside Canada, mainly in the United States. You can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Québec, to the Commission d'accès à l'information.

Australia

We handle your data in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Your data is held outside Australia, mainly in the United States. You can ask to access or correct it. If you're not happy with how we handle a complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

New Zealand

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to access and correct your data. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Philippines

Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 you have the right to be informed, to access, object, correct, erase or block your data, to data portability, and to file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.

Brazil

Under the LGPD you can ask us to confirm that we process your data, access it, correct it, anonymise, block or delete unnecessary data, move it to another provider, learn who we share it with, and withdraw your consent. You can also complain to the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD). Contact us at help@prllxlabs.com.

Children

Try Again! is made for a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13, or under the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher (up to 16 in the European Economic Area). We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under that age. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us at help@prllxlabs.com and we will delete it.

Security

Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access to our servers and databases is limited to the people who need it, and we use pseudonymous identifiers for analytics and level personalisation. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your data we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the game or the law changes. The effective date at the top always shows the current version. If a change is important, we will also tell you in the game or on this website before it applies.
